Traditional Bridesmaid Gift Ideas

by admin on May 28, 2010

If you’re planning a wedding, chances are you’ll have some bridesmaids.  It’s traditional to present each bridesmaid with a thank you gift on the big day and I’d like to take a look at five greatideas for bridesmaid gifts.

  1. The first idea is jewellery, as the bridesmaid can wear it on the day.  A silver charm bracelet is a great gift for bridesmaids of any age, and you could buy two or three charms to put on the bracelet.  Charms such as their initial, a heart or a ring to symbolise the wedding are a good idea.  They can then add charms to it in the future.  Links can be added if the bracelet is for a child, meaning they won’t grow out of it.  Alternatively a pretty silver locket on a chain is a lovely gift idea and would suit any age.
  2. A photo frame is ideal because you can give a picture of you with your bridesmaids for them to put into their frame.  An album or scrap book is an alternative, for them to put in photos from their day as a bridesmaid.
  3. For older bridesmaids, why not treat them to vouchers for a spa day to show your appreciation.
  4. For younger children and flower girls, a teddy is a lovely idea and many companies such as Me To You make “special bridesmaid” bears.  This is a lovely way for them to remember how much you appreciate them.
  5. The final idea is personalising something.  This could be a champagne glass engraved with their name, your names and the date of the wedding.  This is something they can use on the day and take home with them.  If you aren’t an engraver there are lots of places you can order custom engraved glasses from.  For children a glass jar containing their favourite sweets labelled to commemorate their day as a bridesmaid is a fun gift that they can then refill.
